Nickleby’s Roundbar in Willoughby Closes for Good This Weekend
After ten years slinging beers and burgers in Willoughby, Nickleby’s Roundbar is closing their doors. In a message posted to Facebook this week Nickleby’s said: “It’s hard to summarize an entire decade’s worth of memories and feelings. It’s even harder when you sum it up with a good-bye. This year has been tough. With a heavy heart, we are officially announcing the closing of Nickleby’s Roundbar. As we reflect on our amazing 10 plus years, we want to thank all the loyal customers, the fantastic community, and our unbelievable staff. It has been great, and we couldn’t have done it without all of you. Our last day will be this Saturday the 30th. We hope to see any or all of you over the next 4 days as we close our chapter in Downtown Willoughby’s history book. We love you all to the fullest and appreciate the relationships we’ve made.” Spread love. Don’t forget us….. we certainly won’t forget you.

The Community of Restaurants Come Together
Lure Bistro Gift Cards Will Be Honored at Other Locations Not everyone knows about Downtown Willoughby but they surely should. The community has always been a special place for families, people, friends and loved ones. It has that small town feel with some extra special magic. Within hours of the announcement of Lure Bistro closing, chat rooms, forums, social media and more were filling with comments, sadness of the closing, reminders of happy memories but also concerns about what the future brings. One of the highlighted items brought up by many was what were people going to do with the gift cards that they recently bought from Lure Bistro that they can not use any longer. Lure Bistro ran their annual gift card specials enticing guests to buy extra gift cards for the holidays where they got deals for spending more money. When the doors closed, many were left with a feeling of disappointment. But right when those guests that all was lost, a group of restaurants/bars in the DTW area put a plan together. These locations knew what the right thing was to do and it was all about keeping the community together and giving back. Here is the […]
Lure Bistro Closes After 22 Years
Lure Bistro (38040 Third St.), has been a staple in DTW for 22 years. It’s been through a few owners and is currently owned by David Pike. The restaurant was previously owned by Jaret Havanchak who had an amazing run and turned Lure Bistro into one of the best restaurants in Lake County. It was known for the best patio, best sushi and their famous crab crusted grouper. There is already a deal in the works to get new ownership in and get the location up and running. Details of this new ownership will be given when the time is right. From our understanding, new ownership will consist of previous employees over the years. This has not been confirmed as of yet but the rumor mills have already started. A message from the owner. It is with a great deal of difficulty and sadness the current ownership of Lure Bistro announces that effective 1/1/2020 the restaurant will be closed for business. The Lure has been a staple in the Downtown Willoughby restaurant world for 20+ years and over that time we have had so many amazing guests that have become regulars and huge supporters of what we do. Past and […]
Barrio Tacos To Open in Downtown Willoughby
Barrio Tacos looks to open it’s 5th location in the Greater Cleveland area. This time, it will be in Downtown Willoughby, Ohio right on the main drag .. Erie Street. It will be taking over the location where Oliver Twist used to serve up great wines, martinis and enjoyable food. “We love downtown Willoughby and have been looking for the perfect location for a while. Considering Barrio means ‘neighborhood,’ we feel this is the perfect neighborhood to further expand our brand east,” Sean Fairbairn, President of Barrio Restaurant Group, said in a press release. Barrio Taco has been serving up some of the best tacos and margaritas in the Cleveland area for years. They have locations in Lakewood, Tremont, Downtown Cleveland E.4th and a newer location in Cleveland Hts where the old Mad Greek used to be. They are expanding fast and there is a reason for it … the food is amazing. Where else can you go to build your own custom taco exactly how you want it. Check out their locations and start building your favorite taco. But remember to take a pic of your order sheet for you send it in, you might just have created the […]
Hook & Hoof New American Kitchen in Downtown Willoughby
By Rita Dipasquale Dicello | Writter for NEO Foodies Over the past 5-10 years downtown Willoughby has been experiencing a culinary rebirth of sorts. Several restaurants have now made this beautiful little area home. Let’s start with Pranzo. I’d have to say they were the first that I recall besides the already well established Gavi Restaurant, to come on the scene offering truly authentic Italian cuisine, pizza’s done right & a cozy atmosphere that is reminiscent of a little family gem tucked away in the hillside of any Italian village. One that is always packed because once you’re there, you never want to leave. Then when Gavi’s closed, Sol Tapas Bar & Restaurant bought the space. Finally some wonderful South American flare & tapas! Who doesn’t like tapas? However, after that we saw anther pause & the Contemporary American scene lagged behind. Particularly when it came to fine spirits, creative cocktails & a refreshed Modern American menu popping up elsewhere in Cleveland. The choices for a long time were either Oliver Twist or Ballantine’s. While they are fine places, they were the only options outside of Italian or Spanish. For the beer lovers, there is & probably always will be The Willoughby Brewing Company. […]
